hose who tuned into the Stormy Daniels’ “60 minutes” interview were greeted with a number of sordid details about President Trump’s affair with the former porn star, details like that the President compared Daniels to his daughter shortly before having sex and spanked him with a magazine featuring his face on the cover.
One detail that was left on the editing room floor was a clip of Daniels describing the President’s genitalia.
“We don’t need to hear that,” NBC’s Megyn Kelly told Daniels’ attorney after he revealed the information during an interview. “That didn’t make it in,” Daniels’ attorney informed her to which she retorted: “and good for them.”
Daniels’ story has lingered in the new cycle much longer than previous Trump Administration scandals and it is clearly wearing on the media-conscious President.
Aboard air force one, President Trump made his first comments directly acknowledging the existence of the payout. When asked if he knew about the payout in the month before the Presidential election Trump mawkishly replied “no.”
When pushed further about the timeline of his knowledge regarding the payouts he simply replied that reporters would need to address their questions to his attorney Michael Cohen.
Trump advisors have claimed that the President has been very vocal privately about his desire to go after Daniels. He’s eager to go attack her publically in the way he has for his other critics, but the President has been thwarted by close aides. Despite the President’s desire to face the accusation head-on, he hasn’t acted on his impulses yet.
“Our case just got that much better,” Daniels’ legal counsel told CNN. “And we very much look forward to testing the truthfulness of Mr. Trump’s feigned lack of knowledge concerning the $130k payment as he stated on Air Force One.”
As for now, Daniels’ team is pushing to depose Trump and Cohen, a move that is being blocked by Trump’s legal team.
It is also reported that Trump currently has more attorneys representing his defense against Daniels than he has to defend him in Robert Mueller’s inquiry into alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 election.
Trump’s legal team has also been finding it more difficult to recruit talent to defend the President. Whether it be because of the difficulties of the case or a fear of being hung out to dry, several top D.C. defense attorneys have decided against helping the Trump Administration with there frequent legal pitfalls.
President Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct by 19 women. The number of women under NDA from Trump’s years in business means that the number could be much higher.
