Now that the Donald Trump campaign has been proven to have tried to conspire with the Russian government to rig the election in Trump’s favor, the big question becomes who knew what and when. It’ll likely be proven that Donald Trump himself knew his son, his son-in-law and his campaign chairman were plotting with the Kremlin. But one political analyst thinks Paul Ryan and other GOP leaders are also looking at prison for their role in the conspiracy.
During Joy-Ann Reid’s MSNBC show, Simon Rosenberg appeared as a guest and stated the following: “You had the RNC, Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer sending out emails every day promoting Russian disinformation that they knew was from Russia, and they aided and abetted the campaign. My own view is that Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus got their jobs in the White House because they were so instrumental in helping make the Russian campaign a success.” But then he set his sights on Paul Ryan.
Rosenberg continued: “The same is true with Paul Ryan and the House Republicans. They used the materials in House race after House race after House race. So all of these Republican leaders were complicit in the actual action of the Russian government in 2016, and they’re defending their president because they’re part of the crime.” Then he added: “It is clear that Sean Spicer, Reince Priebus, Paul Ryan, others who were part of the RCCC are all liable for the aiding and abetting statute, and could be prosecuted and go to jail.”
It’s important to note that Reince Priebus was RNC Chair during the election, meaning that he was working hand in hand with Republican Speaker Paul Ryan at the time. Sean Spicer was also an RNC employee at the time. As Palmer Report previously pointed out (link), Priebus was seen entering Trump Tower the morning the Russia meeting took place there.
