Before boarding Marine One for a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he will meet with leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, President Donald Trump stopped to complain about Hillary Clinton.
Trump argued that retired Gen. Michael Flynn is charged with lying to the FBI, but that Hillary Clinton also lied to the FBI and was never held accountable.
Trump touted the rise in the stock market following the GOP’s tax bill that cuts taxes on those making over $1 million annually. According to him, the only thing that hurts the markets are when networks spread “fake news.” Trump was presumably referencing the guilty plea from Flynn, which resulted in a market drop on Friday.
“I feel badly for General Flynn. I feel very badly,” Trump told reporters. “He’s led a very strong life and I feel very badly, John. I will say this, Hillary Clinton lied many times to the FBI and nothing happened to her. General Flynn lied and they destroyed his life. Hillary Clinton, on the Fourth of July weekend, went to the FBI, not under oath, it was the most incredible thing anyone has ever seen. She lied many times. Nothing happened to her. Flynn lied and it’s like, they ruined his life. It’s very unfair.”
There was no proof of Clinton lying to the FBI and the comments from Trump are only his personal opinion on the matter.
