Out of all the members of President Trump’s cabinet, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos wins the title for “most hated.” And with this lot, that’s an impressive victory.

She has no experience in education, has never managed a loan system or even a Radio Shack for that matter, and only has her job because of political donations. And everything she champions for education have already been proven to be disastrous, especially her “school choice” program, which is a thinly-veiled attempt to re-segregate schools and take money away from the schools that need it most.

She is refusing to provide financial relief to students who were scammed by schools like Trump University. She is also trying to weaken Title IX regulations so that accused rapists have more rights than the victims–even to the point that the accused can interrogate them. DeVos went as far as meeting with a “men’s rights” group that defends campus rape.

She even went after the handicap, rescinding federal guidelines for accommodating students with disabilities.

But what Devos really wants to know is why is everyone picking on her.

“It’s hurtful to me when I’m criticized for not upholding the rights of students, the civil rights of students. Nothing could be further from the truth,” said DeVos. “I have to turn it back around and say why do I keep getting criticized for that? I mean nothing that I’ve done would suggest otherwise.”

If DeVos did maybe 20 minutes of research on any of these issues, she would see why people are upset. But research is something they teach in schools, and it doesn’t look like the Education Secretary knows what those are.
