At C. J. Harris Elementary School in Pearland, Texas, a substitute teacher saw something and said something, calling the police to report a suspected terrorist.

The problem: The suspect was a six-year-old with Down’s Syndrome who cannot speak, reports FOX 26 News. In Donald Trump’s America, however, the boy’s Muslim upbringing was enough to strike fear into the heart of the so-called educator. (Video below.)

“She claimed he was a terrorist,” said the boy’s father Maher Suleiman. “This is so stupid, it’s discrimination.”

The teacher told police that the student repeatedly muttered “Allah” and “boom.” But as Suleiman bluntly pointed out, “It’s not true, he doesn’t speak at all… he needs care all the time.”

The racist motives for the incident are clear, but what isn’t always apparent to people who do not face this kind of discrimination every day is the pain it causes families.

“The last three to four weeks have been the hardest of my life,” said Maher. “My wife and kids were crying a few days ago and I told them everything is fine.”

Unsurprisingly, the police department conducted an investigation and found no threat — at least not from the boy. The true threat is the vile racism that continues to infect our communities as it is promoted from the highest levels of our government, and it is incumbent on each of us to fight back and stop it.
